Jim DeMay is a 17-year resident of House District 36A, which includes the communities of Lino Lakes, Centerville, Circle Pines, North Oaks and White Bear Township. Jim grew up in neighboring Shoreview and graduated from Mounds View High School before receiving degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Hamline University, where he also served as an adjunct professor of business and public administration.

Jim was first elected to the Mounds View School Board in 2019 and has championed many initiatives aimed at improving reading outcomes, providing mental health supports, innovative in-school vocational training, and college credit opportunities saving families more than $4 million in tuition costs.

Jim has been active in Rotary International, The Mounds View Schools Foundation, Mounds View Youth Hockey, North Suburban Soccer Association, Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, the Hamline Business School Advisory Council, and St. John’s in the Wilderness Church of White Bear Lake. He and his wife, Channing, have two adult children.
