PRIORITIES
-
I will prioritize people over profits by reducing the cost of childcare, healthcare, and senior care to ensure families can thrive. In the MN House, I will:
Deliver property tax relief for seniors and working families.
Pass universal childcare and early learning.
Make healthcare accessible and affordable to seniors and those who need it most.
-
Everyone should be able to pursue the American Dream, and for many people, that means owning their own home. Young families are looking for the same opportunity as their parents and that opportunity has become nearly impossible for many.
Support legislation to build new, affordable and stable single family housing options that meet the needs of the community.
Develop our community thoughtfully and making sure that these homes are going to families and not private equity.
-
We cannot tolerate fraudsters taking hard earned taxpayer dollars from our kids and seniors
Fully fund the newly created Office of Inspector General that creates an independent oversight body to stop waste, fraud, and abuse.
Protect taxpayer dollars by promoting efficiency reviews and regular audits.
Modernize state computer systems to catch fraud and promote efficiency.
Increase accountability measures for non-profits serving the government.
-
Everyone should feel welcome and safe in their neighborhood, school and workplace. As your state representative, Jim supports:
Increased state funding for local police and fire services.
School Resource Officers (SROs) in schools and improved security measures for students and buildings.
Increased mental health resources in the Mounds View School District to prevent tragedy and connect families to care.
Increased penalties for criminals who commit gun crimes.
Common sense gun safety laws including an assault weapon ban.
-
As a Mounds View School Board member since 2019, I worked with parents and educators to make the district one of the best in the state. I will continue to work to improve our schools by:
Fully funding our public schools to keep property taxes down.
Improving literacy so that every child can read at grade level.
Expanding higher education opportunities for students by offering college and technical career credits in high school.
-
We all love living in this district but it's hard not to notice that property taxes are consistently going up and pricing families out of their homes. I will secure funding from the state to help fund our local school districts, provide local government with public safety and infrastructure funding. This would reduce the financial pressure on the county and local governments, thereby reducing the need for property tax increases. I will fight for increased rebates on property taxes for seniors and working families.
-
A clean environment is key to the Minnesota way of life. I will protect our lakes and rivers and ensure that all of us have access to clean air and safe drinking water. We can grow our communities thoughtfully and still protect our environment and preserve parks and open spaces. At the legislature, Jim will:
Oppose copper-nickel mining in the BWCA.
Increase use of clean energy through tax incentives.
Protect our drinking and ground water through infrastructure repairs.
Enhance clean water protections for White Bear Lake and communities across the northeast metro.
Advocate for land conservation and renewable energy projects.
-
The government should stay out of the most personal decisions families face.
Strong supporter of reproductive rights and access to reproductive health care.
Opposed efforts to roll back individual freedoms or target vulnerable communities.
